SIMPLE PLEASURES TO COMBAT WINTER BLUES

DRINK

A warming turmeric & ginger latte. Grate one teaspoon each of fresh turmeric and root ginger, add a teaspoon of coconut oil, a teaspoon of coconut sugar and warmed almond milk, zhoosh around in a blender and drink. Delish!

COOK

…anything by Anna Jones. I adore her cooking, from the lentil ragù to the nachos – it’s all vegetarian, plant-based nutritious food. I could eat from her recipe book A Modern Way to Cook every single day. Yum.

INDULGE

Pamper yourself a little. Curl up on the couch with a book, flick through a magazine, take a scented bath, call a friend you haven’t spoken to in ages – refocus, recharge, reboot!

SPRUCE UP

Bear with me here, but I really think that in the right mood tackling cleaning or organising tasks can be really satisfying. I’m not talking daily drudgery or chores here, but giving your home a little love, and feeling better about it in the process. I like to mop with lavender oil, or light incense and scented candles to make it a more indulgent treat.

EXERCISE

It’s yoga for me - sometimes it's hard to leave the house so early, but it always makes me feel so much better afterwards. I’m energised but calm and ready to face the day! Plus there is all that releasing of endorphins which certainly help.
