I don’t know about you guys but my mind is very good at going over again and again on replay all the worries and stresses linked to my life. From the minute I rise (5am) I’m on emails, running around from here to here, dealing with all sorts of problems, from major business ones to boring ones like leaky roofs to washing machines breaking down or getting stuck in traffic. There’s quite a lot of emotional stress out there. It’s since doing yoga that I’ve slowly recalibrated how I live and actually I feel better for it.

This has really helped. It stops me getting too swept up in thoughts about the future or the past for that matter. So consequently I feel more productive and focused. That’s not to say my mind doesn’t wander it does constantly but then I pull it back into the present.

Every morning and evening I burn essential oils in the bedroom, lavender actually. Not only does it add this wonderful relaxation vibe it’s a sensual delight and as new age-y as this sounds makes me feel in a more balanced state of mind as I wake into the day and also at the end of the day.

In Sweden mid morning coffee breaks are called ‘fika’ its not something taken on the go it’s a chance to refuel, even mediate. Most importantly it’s time to take a break and to take a moment for you. I have mine in a hand thrown little Vietnamese vessel with coconut milk. Mine isn’t mid morning its before the team arrive and although it sounds like nothing I love the simplicity of it. If I’m on the road then it’s a gingerbread latte with coconut milk (I am obsessed) – oh sans the cream on tops.
