I have just got back from Australia! It was such a blast. Gem and I had the best time and I can’t tell how lovely it was to meet the old gang and so many new and inspiring people. Thanks so much to my classes that joined us – we can’t wait to come back!
While I was away, I was obviously thinking about my pad, how my team is getting on without me, the M’s and all the exciting opportunities that are coming up – so exiting! This got me thinking about home.
When I was visiting different spaces in Australia, it occurred to some places just have that home factor, while other’s, no matter how hard they tried, just didn’t. You guys know important my pad is to me, it’s where I relax and rejuvenate from the busy day with the M’s. So, I thought I would tell you my top tips to make your house feel like a home.
1. MAKE SCENT
Cultivate the scents you adore. If it’s through a set of scented candles, flowers, hand soap, perfume or the food you love to cook.
You guys know I am obsessed with lighting. It can transform a space from being sterile and cold to friendly and familiar. With a few clever lighting choices, you can get a year-round feel good factor in your home, helping you to feel organised, focused and happy.
3. MAKE THE MOST OF IT
Make the most of every inch of your pad. Full if full of the things you love and have them on display so you can admire them everyday. Cook the food you have always wanted to try in your kitchen. Soak for hours in your bathtub and splash out on those candles you always admire in magazines.
4. HANG OUT
Create gallery walls full-to-the-brim with pictures, artwork. prints you love. Print your photos regularly and display your favourites and remember to mix it up on a regular basis to keep it fresh.
5. MAKE IT YOURS
Every home is unique. Take advantage of tall ceilings, cosy seating areas and large walls. Use lighting and mirrors to create space and light. Colour is a big factor when decorating your pad, so choose a palette you absolutely love. Don’t be afraid to break from the norm and go with your gut!
