I am all for easy little tricks to take homes to the next level. Something you can turn around quickly and it looks fantastic. I don’t know about you guys, but I want my home to look like I’ve spent a million dollars on it (well almost) without actually spending a million dollars on it.
One of the easiest ways to upscale a room is through paint, obviously. It’s the single most transformative thing you can do to any room. I’m getting loads of inspiration from the cool vignette above. Throw in a bit of faux leopard, some flowers, a few vases, some art – when you break it down there really isn’t that much going on, but it all looks fab. The lack of gaps between objects is also a game changer. The more dead empty space you have in a room, the less intriguing it looks.
Another easy way to make rooms feel more upscale is to hang curtains higher than you would normally feel comfortable. Conversely hanging pendants lower than you normally would makes rooms look more expensive, particularly in dining rooms, as I bang on about all the time. You can also switch up your lampshades to something a little more decorative, I generally opt for shades that are much bigger than the base. It’s that playing around with scale thing again makes the whole piece look much cooler than it really is!
As I said in the intro all easy peasy little tricks!
