It might look like I pull everything together in a Nano second, whizz into a room throw a bunch of things around and then leave! I wish, however there are actually principles involved! Before I begin, the biggest key component is confidence. Confidence is the main ingredient and it's key – otherwise (and I know we’ve all been there) we get overwhelmed, dial down our choices and then we end up with something blah. If you can keep the faith you are halfway there!
RULE 1: CONTRAST
In order to have the coolest pad on the planet, every room should have a bit of contrast. When opposing things mesh and mash together you create a really compelling scheme. You could do it through colour, texture, pattern, material, style – its endless.
RULE 2: FOCAL POINT
If you don’t have a focal point create one, and by the way you should never have one you should have three. If you have one your eye will just focus on that and then be done. I want to make your eye jump everywhere that way subconsciously it feels more tantalising.
RULE 3: SCALE
If all your furniture and accessories are the same size it will read like a big yawn. Choosing stuff all the same style and all the same height is so boring so mesh and mash it up.
