Not just for floors…

Continuing with the rugs theme today, what with our gorgeous new range I’ve definitely got them on the brain. In this morning’s post I sat down with Jo the founder of Maroc Tribal and picked her brains on everything to do with the Moroccan rugs look. But being such a total rug addict I have to admit that in my pad I don’t always just stick to using them on floors…

Here are my top 4 other ways to decorate with them. Purely selfish, so I can justify having even more!

1. Use them like upholstery

I’ve seen rugs upholstered over ottomans; the backs of chairs, cushions even and they work a treat. Obviously thinner ones are easier to work with, like cotton weaves or killims. It’s a fab shortcut to pulling off a wonderfully exotic, tribal-esque vibe! I took it to extremes with the Wild Bill sofa I designed for our own-range – he’s a rad little loveseat completely covered in the plushest woollen rug upholstery. Love!

2. Drape over chairs

I do this a lot with my sheepskins and small rag rugs. They’re perfect for softening hard plastic chairs or even my concrete one. It’s layering at it’s best I say!

3. Hang from the wall

I’ve done this in my hallway and that is hang a large supersize rug against the wall so its actually looks like a piece of art. Cool no?

4. Fake it with runners

A super inexpensive way of decorating with rugs is to plump for runners and then flank them either side of the bed. This is a trick I use all the time if I can’t find a rug large enough to fill a space, or if the giant option is too pricey. Pretty darn cool I reckon!
