It’s a trick that’s been around for the longest time, yet it never goes out of date: the long low shelf. Designers have it in their decorating arsenal all the time as it has the effect of a console but with added visual lightness. Its super-versatile, you can prop or hang paintings, plonk things under it (mag / books) or use as storage.
You can even double them up. They can totally and utterly transform blank walls and are a fabulous way of rotating your art. Great for entryways, bedrooms, kitchens and dining rooms. The trick though, (this is personal obviously) is to make sure you plump for quite a thick shelf it automatically ups the kudos!
