Hi all, just a quick afternoon post. As it’s Shrove Tuesday, aka Pancake Day, I thought I’d share my pick of some of the best sweet and savoury pancake ideas. Hopefully they’ll give you some inspiration when whipping up dinner tonight!
Personally I prefer savoury pancakes to big stacks of pancakes slathered in nutella or maple syrup, but I know I’m probably in the minority there. In the interests of fairness I’ve got two of each to choose from though! Which camp do you belong to – sweet or savoury? Also if you have any old-favourites pancakes recipes please let me know.
Artichoke and brie pancakes with hot honey sauce from Half Baked Harvest. A bit indulgent this one, because it’s oozing melted cheese and honey. Who could resist?
Dosa with tomato chickpea masala: I’m absolutely obsessed with dosa – they’re a type of really light and delicate Indian crepe that’s made from lentil batter, and then filled with spicy veg like sweet potato or chickpeas. They’re some of the best street food snacks around if you’re ever visiting Borough Market, but I haven’t attempted making some at home yet. Well no time like the present and I think today is probably the perfect time to give it a go, right?
Lemon ricotta thyme pancakes with blueberry sauce, from Baked Bree. Definitely tempted to try out this one, lemon and thyme combo sounds like an interesting twist on the all-American classic blueberry pancake.
Brown butter pear crepes by Tutti Dolce. This would be the one to end your pancake fest on! Buttery, cinnamonny, nutmeggy, maple syrup goodness.
