REFRESH YOUR HOME FOR SPRING

Posted on February 06 2018

It's February and I was wondering how the rebooting, fresh start, new gym food/regime was going? For moi, not so well. January is a really busy month, Gem and I are often travelling, launching new collections coupled with the fact it's my birthday so the dry January thing and going to the gym every day is a tough one for me.

That said, I’ve been pretty good on the food front. I started embracing a more plant based diet last year and living in Dalston, I am super-lucky to have vegan pubs and even a weekly Saturday Vegan market - it's right next to the farmers market. I’m cooking my way through Vegan in 7 and 15 Minute Vegan, which is my go to book of the month. As much as I love cooking, Monday through to Thursdays are big long days, so I need simple and yum. Enough ramblings about me, let’s talk freshening our abodes.

CANDLES AND INCENSE

My simplest trick is scent, walk into any place that smells amazing and it puts you at ease and immediately makes you feel at one with the world. I light incense pyres every morning and either it’s the scent of wood smoke in the evening filling the air or a candle softly puttering away. I also love having fun candle holders to  jazz up a boring side table or desk.

LEAFY FRONDS & PLANTS

Spring feels just around the corner, there was a touch of warmth in the air on the weekend which feels super-exciting. Until that time overdose on plants inside it’s the quickest way to not only green up your gaff but to transform any neglected area into something totally cool.

PAINT

I can’t bang on enough about how a lick of paint transforms everything it touches. A piece of furniture, an alcove, a door, a floor – game changer!
