What is
colour drenching?
Colour drenching is actually something that here at AA HQ have been banging on about for years! It's about taking a fabulous hue and using it everywhere - walls, ceiling, radiators, doors etc - does that sound familiar? It seems the interiors world has now caught on and just given it a fancy name, but the intent is exactly the same, it creates a perfect backdrop to your furnishings and decor and blurs the stark lines, making your room feel more cohesive, sophisticated and stylish.
Tips on Colour Drenching
Follow these 3 tips to ensure you gain maximum impact in your space.
Tip 1 -
Painting the ceiling and walls the same colour.
Often the biggest hurdle, but one you will NOT regret. Pushing the colour all the way around the room like this, enveloping it in your chosen shade, elongates the space especially if you’re working with a small room and an earthy colour.
Tip 2 -
Painting skirting boards the same colour as the walls.
Why would you want to highlight the bottom of your wall? Painting it the same hue as the wall allows it to seamlessly blend into the floor, even if your floor is not the same colour, the boundaries are blurred.
Tip 3 -
Painting radiators to match the walls.
No need to highlight something as practical (and sometimes ugly) as a radiator. Let it blend into the background so that your eye isn't immediately drawn to it.

Soft and so earthy that it creates instant elegance in any room. It's a mid tone colour, cosy with the most beautiful depth. Stunning with neutral accessories as well as black accents.
Baked Clay
Inspired by Abigail’s trips to Australia and the beautiful exterior colour of so many of the houses in the quiet backstreets of Sydney. Calm, whilst also dynamic and intriguing.
Putty
One of lightest of hues in our collection, the delicate soft colour of Putty is a timeless tone and a rich neutral that will stay relevant for a very long time.
Hudson Black
Not for the feint hearted but deeply sophisticated. With undertones of brown, this hue is the softest black on the planet! It will contrast beautifully with almost any colour you put with it.
Wattle
Calming and super soothing and ideal for creating a serene and grounding backdrop. It's one of AA's mid tone colours - at the lighter end as its almost a neutral but not quite as it has incredible depth.
Marsh
A beautiful expanse of distinctive Australian landscape of subtropical rainforests and volcanic landscapes was the inspiration behind this colour. Marsh is a deeply saturated, earthy, soft, incredibly serene colour.

Colour Drenching
When you paint out your walls, ceiling, skirting boards and radiators in the same colour, the whole backdrop recedes and any objects from chandeliers to cushions and bed linen, just takes more of a central role. Choosing a colour that you love is essential. You need to consider how you want the room to feel and then work from there, having confidence in your own style means that you will create a home that YOU love. A home that oozes your personality but most of all a home that makes you feel exactly how you want it to. So throw away the rule book, forget trends and trust your heart.
