AA Travels
Ditch the guidebook and check out AA’s latest travel destination.
AA is constantly in motion these days hotfooting it from Scandinavia to Asia and back again. Here’s her low down on things cool to do in Singapore her most recent stop over. Ditch the guidebook, check out and catch up on some of the most fabulous bars, restaurants, gardens and shops around.Botanical Gardens
Swaths of lushness welcome you at the Botanical Gardens, it’s a fabulous respite to the heat and being a little (a lot) botanical obsessed we were in awe.
Cable Car & Spa
With meetings done and dusted one of the best things we did in Singapore was grab a cable car (so cool) from Mount Faber to the island of Sentosa and head to the Sofitel Spa for a day of treatments. The outdoor spa garden has a lap pool, a float pool with cascading waterfalls and a mud pool. We sat on loungers, crunched numbers and strategized for 8 hours. For someone who never stops I will remember this day for a very long time. I loved it!
Dempsey Hill
Arguably one of the hottest spots in Singapore (in my book) Dempsey Hill is a former British Army barracks now housing some of the coolest restaurants around. It’s a quiet enclave away from the glitz of the city and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since I left
Eats : Chop Suey
Beyond amazing - firstly there is the location nestled within the tropical parklands, secondly there is the ambience (colonial vibe with an atmosphere of casual sophistication) right up my street. The main dining room and bar look out onto a covered veranda and the large outdoor terrace overlooking the gardens is so beautiful. The food is also incredible from tingling chilli jam prawns to steamed lasagne of snapper. Delish
PS Cafe
Owned by the same guys that operate Chop Suey this café fuses Asian treats like soft shell crab with truffle fries to soups, sandwiches, salads and way more. It’s got the coolest Australian relaxed vibe with glass on two sides and a beautiful outer terrace.
Lolla
A small place in the heart of Chinatown – all industrial chic décor with the smallest menu. Breads, cold cuts and then a few meat, seafood and veggie dishes to chose form. From sea urchin on black squid ink pudding (complex and mouth watering) to bamboo clams with chorizo and the pud OMG – steamed dark chocolate with fig and honey ice cream. I died!
