Top Christmas tips
DECORATING WITH FOLIAGE
Be brave and forget flowers altogether. A mass of foliage on their own is modern, bold and best of all – dead easy. The trick to making a foliage arrangement is to stick to one colour scheme! Grey greens look beautiful together as do fiery reds, russets and browns. Check out the full range to find the hue for you!
Christmas is all about adding greenery, twinkling lights and plenty of sparkle. Scatter candles everywhere for magical evenings, and long candelit dinners. Overdose on fairylights too, both inside and out!
Top tip: double the amount of light by draping fairylights over mirrors.
BE THE HOST WITH THE MOST
There is so much to do when hosting, but having a beautifully fragrant home is such a thoughtful touch. Scent is too often overlooked, but it's definitely something that all houseguests will notice! Make visitors feel extra welcome with the our incense pyres.
Not just for Christmas! The beauty of faux wreaths is that they can be brought out year after year. Gem made mine for me yonks ago, and I just replenish with a couple of fresh sprigs of pine and rosemary every December, for fragrance. Pop into our florist at Heal's to see all our faux wreaths.
Fancy having a go at making your own? In our hands-on Christmas workshop our florists will guide you through making your own stunning wreath to take away with you!
This is a tip I've stolen from Gem, and use every year. Dust flowers with glitter, then spray with hairspray to keep it in place. They'll sparkle beautifully under the light. Dead simple trick to transform anything from roses to garage carnations! I plump for reds and deep pinks for a dramatic centrepiece.
What would Christmas be without champagne? Garnish yours with a sprig of rosemary for a fragrant, festive twist. Or try topping up the champagne with sparkling elderflower - it's a delish cocktail and makes the bubbly go further if you're hosting a lot of guests. Chin chin!
