A Podcast to Soundtrack Your Slow Weekends

Whether you’re pottering in the garden, loading up the stroller, striding out on a walk or doing some kitchen prep, cue one of Abigail Ahern's most favourite podcasts – Happy Place.

With its interesting mix of guests revealing what happiness means to them it’s a perfect podcast for the weekend. Guests discuss life, loss, and everything in between. Enjoy.

Read on as Abi had the pleasure of finding out about Fearne's very own happy place.

Berber & Q - London

Abi: In an increasingly mindful world where most of us understand the importance of carving out spaces that make us feel relaxed and happy I was wondering what makes you happiest at home?

Fearne: My dream day at home is having the time and space to paint. I love to paint portraits or specifically hands. I use acrylic paint on canvas and will set up my easel in the kitchen by the window so the light is on point. Then I will turn the music up very loudly and get lost in the flow of painting. If I concentrate and get in the zone, I can often complete a full portrait in one sitting in a day. I get so lost in the experience and enjoyment that I rarely remember to go to the loo or drink water. It's my favourite way to switch off from the outside world and the constant noise and distraction. The good thing about painting is that you can't do anything else whilst you're doing it. You can't check your phone or scroll so its an amazing discipline and very relaxing for the mind.

Abi: How important do you think your surroundings are in boosting your mood levels?

Fearne: Hugely important. My home is my sanctuary and I love making it feel as cosy as possible. I love soft furnishings and lamps everywhere. Lighting is always key especially in the winter when it gets dark early. I rarely put the ceiling lights on as I love the glow of lamps dotted about. I love colour but nothing too bright. My house is mainly soft pinks and greens with a touch of dusty red in places too. They are all colours that make me feel calm and comforted.
