Styling accessories in your home is a fantastic way to personalise your space, adding layers of texture, intrigue and a unique magic that creates focal points, conversation starters and interior storytelling. Here are a few of my go to tips for clustering objects, accessories, sculpture and lighting that I use when styling every room and every surface.
1. Style In Odd Numbers
Using the rule of styling in odd numbers is one that's used in many forms of visual gatherings, even floral bouquets follow this general styling tool as it creates a more cohesive look. Styling in numbers of 3, 5, 7 etc feels much less formal and appears more curated. It's a styling tool that I use throughout my home and store as well as photoshoots and product styling, simple but very effective. Give it a go.
2. Vary Heights
Playing scale and varying heights is one of my all time go-to's for decorating and styling. If everything sits at the same height and proportion it can read as very boring and one dimensional and in fact your eye will not be drawn to anything whereas a cute little vignette with a cluster of 3 objects of varying heights looks curated and draws the eye.
3. Use A Tray
Trays are multi functional you can use them in any room and everything feels far more elevated, organised and curated when housed on a tray. They are great styling aids and can bring a look together, also super handy to pop on a pouffe to create a sturdy surface to add an extra pop of style as well as being a practical.
