Monthly Musings...
September

Welcome to September's monthly musings. The Summer hols have faded and it's time to reset and recharge, that back to school feeling that gives us a gentle prod to change things up a bit.

September...

All Change!

Welcome to the new season. Who doesn’t love September?

I happen to think September (back to school month) is a great month to set new intentions, re-evaluate after the summer and make some changes.

I’ll take a look at my workouts, my food, my wardrobe and take stock of the house to see if anything needs a bit or a reset or refresh.

All across social this month (each week) I will be giving you a challenge from a shot of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) in the morning, to quick 10 minute workouts to boost activity, cold showers (brrr) to giving our homes a seasonal refresh.

Are you setting any intentions for September? I would love to know, that way we can keep each other inspired and on track to embrace a season of change.

Oh and also, you guys know how much I love my alfresco cooking on the Big Green Egg! Had a fabulous day with them cooking up one of my fave recipes and chatting all things al-fresco and interiors (of course), read on for the lowdown.

Bring On The Boucle (boo-clay)
This season we have become even more obsessed than ever with textures from our beautiful Maura benches (pictured above)  and Lena and Hona Stools (pictured below) to our super textural table lamps enveloped and threaded with wool (Zamora) as well as our beautiful boucle table and floor lamps!

Adelaide Lamp - Terracotta

Lighting takes a commanding presence this season. We’ve upscaled the portable lamps (Adelaide’s) so beautiful on dining tables, bathrooms and kitchen islands and added more colours to our best-selling mushrooms.

Shaggy Chic

Many of our chairs this season are uber fluffy and luxuriously textured. We’re championing a shift towards more exaggerated larger loops and stronger textures. Think bold silhouettes wrapped in sumptuous fabrics for the ultimate sink in comfort. All of which take centre stage and will play a really intriguing counterpoint to all other pieces in your pad. They land towards the end of September so make sure to join our mailing list to get the heads up in advance as they are soooo beautiful!

What I'm Wearing

Cross over jeans, ribbed turtlenecks and of course a wedge are the foundational pieces you’ll find me wearing to level up my wardrobe this season. My nonchalant laid back grunge look – obsessed.

Abigail Ahern x Big Green Egg

You probably all know that I have a passion for cooking outdoors in all weathers. There is something about cooking over real fires that is so intoxicating. Food just tastes so much better and I got into it when living in the States for a number of years and all our neighbours were out in the snow grilling! Also it’s the simple act of lighting the grill and preparing a meal outdoors that rejuvenates me. Its not just about the food its about reclaiming a sense of freedom!

I’ve recently treated myself to a Looft Air Lighter from the BGE it’s a super fast way of lighting the BBQ in seconds, added bonus there is no standing around in cooler temps waiting for the coals to take!

So What's Cooking...

Recipe:
Grilled Persian Chicken, Roti & Sumac Yoghurt

I got to hang out with some of the lovely guys from the Big Green Egg in helping them celebrate their 50th birthday and cooked them this yummy dish on one of their fabulous MiniMax Eggs. I cooked up my current favourite autumnal recipe with a heap of salad, homemade hummus on the side, adapted from one of my constant go-tos, Donna Hay, a super delicious grilled chicken with a roti and sumac yoghurt. Take a peek at the recipe details here.

Recipe For Autumn

I love Donna Hay, I have referenced and pawed through her books for years. One I'm loving at mo is Light: Super-Fast Meals to Make You Feel Good. So many quick, healthy and full of goodness dishes. One of my fave go-to's is her Super Quick, Super Green Soup which has a whole load of chicken bone broth, broccoli, spinach, peas, ground almonds with parsley and mint and a dollop of yogurt. Delicious! I've popped the full recipe below, give it a try, it's soo wholesome.
