We all want to take our spaces to the next level, right? Well, you can’t do that with everything making sense, you have to add a dusting of magic. These are some of my top interior design tips to perk up your home.
ADD OVERSIZED PIECES
I know, I say this a lot but the minute you add say an oversized painting or a super-large plant you provide instant dynamic and dramatic contrast. It is what makes a space feel unique and dramatic. By super-sizing things it will take your space to the next level.
DRAPING STUFF
I drape throws and sheepskins over sofas and chairs – it instantly makes my pad feel cosy, making it a sweet little spot to hang-out.
ADD WOODEN ACCENTS
Wood immediately make a space feel cosy. It dials down pristine looking rooms – I am a little obsessed. From a great slab of wood as one of my coffee tables, to wooden platters on my kitchen island – love, love love them.
GO BIGGER
I covered this in a recent post – small rooms need big furniture. The minute you put small stuff in a small room it instantly emphasises your lack of square footage.
OVERDOSE ON LAMPS
Lamps are a great way to create amazing ambience in any room. The more, the better in my opinion – that is all I am going to say!
SCENT
I am scent-obsessed. Maybe it’s because my little family can at times by a tad smelly (mentioning no names, Monkey), so I burn incense, essential oils, have Santa Maria Novella pot pouri everywhere and wash the floors in lavender oil. Nice.
