Home for the Holidays
With the impending festivities and a flurry of guests due to descend, we've put together some tweaks, hints and tips to ensure your home is welcoming and ready to celebrate the season. A few small preparations will ensure that you can host in style - stress free! It's your Christmas too!
1. Have a mini Spring Clean.
Giving the house a bit of a tidy and refresh well in advance will ensure you're not running around at the last minute hurling things in cupboards on the way to answering the door to your guests. A deep clean and de-clutter will make your home feel fully refreshed and prepared for the hustle and bustle. Pop your favourite playlist on repeat and get stuck in. With this chore ticked off the list, you're almost there!
1. Have a mini Spring Clean.
An accent chair can pull together the look and feel of the room through their colour, material and shape. Adding layers of texture and contrasting colour to a room excites the eye and adds depth. Add cushions and throws to style your accent chair or leave it bare to appreciate the intriguing pattern and/or shape.
2. Get ahead in the Kitchen
Find some time to prepare any festive food and tasty treats in advance. Not only will you relieve the stress of the big day but you'll be ready to host at the drop of a hat when friends or neighbours pop in unannounced. Abi has stocked up on Violets mini mince pies. They are not only super delicious but perfect for popping in the freezer and ready for action in minutes!
3. Add some greenery (and then some!)
Decorate with mossy branches, ferns, foliage, mistletoe, berries and wreaths. It’s all very natural and woodsy. Grab a branch from the garden or go faux (or even a bit of both). Our faux botanicals like trailing eucalyptus, catkin and moss branches, mimosa and fern cream are perfect for adding a warm wintery feel and even better with a little care you can use them year after year. Pop on some hanging decorations or a glittery garland for some added Christmas sparkle.

4. Up the Scent
The first thing that you and any visitors entering the house will notice is its smell. Scent is so neglected in areas like hallways where we simply transition through, yet it sets the tone. Smatter incense cones, sticks and scented candles that have a wintery fragrance all over the house and maybe add in a little natural scent too. Bundles of herbs like thyme, bay, rosemary and scented foliage like eucalyptus will last for up to two weeks and will give off the most natural and subtle hum of freshness.

5. Take some me time
It's so easy to get wrapped up (pardon the pun) in all of the Christmas preparations that we often feel stressed and overwhelmed in the run up and then pooped by the big day. It's a magical and meaningful time of the year so make sure you take some time to look after your own wellbeing and not just your guests. Having your home prepared can help to relieve the craziness of the run up but remember to take five for you too. Hunker down with a cup of herbal tea or linger a little longer in the bath. It's your Christmas too, make mindfulness and wellbeing a little gift just for you.
