Happy Thanksgiving! Today of all days it seemed only right to go all-American for this week’s house crush. On Monday I showed you the gorgeous NYC pad of Lorraine Kirke, so let’s hop from East to West Coast today. This is Brent Bolthouse’s amazing pad that I shot for COLOUR. If you’re not familiar with the name, Brent Bolthouse is the king of LA nightlife – he owns The Bungalow in Santa Monica, and he definitely brought some of the super cool hangout vibe home with him.
I loved the opportunity to nose around his pad, so I’m really excited to share with you guys too. It’s might be a swanky Venice Beach condo, but it’s not at all precious or uptight (my biggest interiors turn-off). Rather the whole place entices you to slow down, relax and get comfy. A darkly seductive brown and black palette plus exposed brick packs a big visual wallop, and is the perfect backdrop for all his amazing art and textiles finds. Everything’s a bit off-kilter and imperfect, and there’s something intriguing to be found in every corner of it, like old punk albums or a skull wearing a crash helmet even! There’s tons of tongue in cheek art and icons of Americana, from Hitchcock to a stars and stripes flag making a statement headboard and an Obama Superman print by street artist Mr. Brainwash (Apparently the artist is a favourite of the Kardashian/Jenner tribe too. I’m afraid I’m not up to speed but so I’m told anyway by more Kardash-happy members of the team!).
You can see more of Brent’s place in COLOUR, but here are my favourite pics to share with you. Whether or not you’re feasting on turkey and pumpkin pie today, happy Thanksgiving y’all!
