Abi's Favourite Plant Nurseries
I absolutely love (correction, am pretty obsessed with) my garden! It’s my very own retreat that I want to use all year round, throughout every season and so I have made my planting scheme predominantly evergreen so that there’s something to look at through each season. Blossom in Spring to the structural seed heads in Winter, I have chosen trees, shrubs, grasses and flowers that will thrive by making sure to pop the right plant in the right place, a concept made famous by the brilliant Beth Chatto (see below).
I love nothing more than a weekend jaunt to a nursery or some online plant shopping, and here are some of my faves that I return to again and again not only for plant buying but heaps of inspo too.
Crocus
Not only an online haven of showstopping plants but full of inspiration and advice too. As they’re online they offer a huge and amazing choice of plants, and some that you may not find in your local garden centre. They also supply a lot of the plants for the Chelsea Flower Show gardens and have quite a few gold medals to their name, so you can be assured that your plants are going to be of the highest quality.
Paramount Plants
I can be a little impatient with my garden and want anything that gives me instant impact. Paramount specialise in mature trees and shrubs so tend to have good sized specimens. You can either visit them at their nursery in Enfield or order online. Lots of advice and garden design ideas too. One of my go to weekend trips with G and Wertz, we’ll always come back with a car full.
❝I wanted it rambling, I wanted it so you when you entered into it you couldn't quite see in front of you. Gardening like interiors takes time - we started with one tree, but now there is so much movement in the garden that I love it. No straight lines, lots of scented plants - jasmine, honeysuckle, lilac, herbs, lots of little seating areas. If I could I would live outside all the time❞

Beth Chatto
Started by a pioneering plantswoman who coined the phrase right plant, right place. A strong, determined and passionate gardener, she’s famous for creating gardens that championed unusual varieties and drought tolerance, a hot topic in our current changes and considerations for our climate. You can take a tour around her breathtaking gardens which are still so inspiring today. The on-site nursery sow, propagate and grow all of their own plants and you can choose them depending on your growing conditions, hot and dry, damp, shade etc. You can buy online too but definitely worth a visit if you can, I always come away so inspired.
