The 5 Questions I Was Asked Most About My Home Tour
Opening the doors of my home to Luxury Home Show to film was one of the highlights of my summer. It’s now been viewed by nearly 700,000 people and I’ve loved reading and answering all your comments! There were a few questions that came up time and time again, so I’d thought I’d answer the five I was asked most.

1. How do you stop dark rooms feeling gloomy?
This was by far the most popular question! The secret isn't actually the paint colour, it's layering. Rich, deep colours come to life when you introduce texture, natural materials, beautiful lighting and plenty of contrast. A dark room should feel cocooning, not cave-like. Done well, it wraps around you and creates an atmosphere that's incredibly comforting.

2. Where do you start when decorating a room?
I never start with furniture or even colour. I start by asking myself one simple question: How do I want this room to feel? Calm? Inviting? Energising? Once you know the feeling you're trying to create, every decision becomes easier because you're decorating with purpose rather than following trends.
3. How do you make a home feel collected rather than decorated?
Patience. The most interesting homes aren't created in a weekend. Mix old with new, display pieces you've fallen in love with over time and don't be afraid of objects that tell a story. Character comes from personality, not perfection.

4. Is every room in your house dark?
I love rich, earthy, deeply saturated colours but they're always balanced with lighter moments, natural textures and changing light throughout the day. It's that contrast that gives a home depth and keeps it feeling alive.

5. What's the one thing every room needs?
Atmosphere. It's the one thing I believe transforms a house into a home. Atmosphere isn't about buying more things—it's about creating a space that makes you want to linger. Through colour, lighting, texture, scent and meaningful objects, a room can become somewhere you instantly exhale the moment you walk through the door.
