LOS ANGELES TRAVEL GUIDE
48 Hours in LA
We had the pleasure of hosting a botanical masterclass at the fabulous deVOL kitchen showroom in LA, so we got the opportunity to dive in and explore this fabulous neighbourhood, here's my little guide to LA as an interiors obsessive, soaking up all of the inspiration.
❝There's something about LA. I don't know if it's the design, or the light, or the coffee, or the architecture, or the incredible food, there's just endless inspiration. ❞

MELROSE
My Favourite Discovery
We based ourselves just off of Melrose, right in the heart of the design district, which was the perfect spot for someone as obsessed with interiors as I am.
From Restoration Hardware and Soho Home, to my absolute favourite discovery, Ancient Modern - I was blown away and completely obsessed. It has this extraordinary mix of incredible, beautiful old pieces. Everything was so incredibly, beautifully curated. Courteney Cox had bought a load of their furniture for her outdoor space.Full of character, full of history, and exactly the space I could spend hours in.

Coffee was very obviously a very important part of my trip, and Verve Coffee became our local, located on Melrose avenue. It's a brilliant coffeehouse with a lovely outdoor terrace and literally right on our doorstep.
Down the road was another favourite haunt The Butcher's Daughter, and we had the most delicious lunch at Gracias Madre - their Kefir Soda was divine, wish I could find it in the UK.

Up In The Hills
We headed up to Griffith Observatory and wound our way back down through the hills with these incredible, sweeping, mesmerising views across the city. Honestly, one of the loveliest things we actually did.
We went early in the morning, this was worth getting up for, as the heat was intense, even then!

ABBOT KINNEY
A New Abigail Ahern Store?
Then we headed to one of my absolute favourite parts of the city, Abbot Kinney. I am completely obsessed with this street. It's in Venice and full of beautiful independent boutiques, interesting design stores, brilliant little cafes, and that wonderfully laid-back Californian vibe. It's got such a fabulous energy, and I love it so much. I'm seriously contemplating opening an Abigail Ahern store here. Watch this space.

On The Menu
We spent hours just pottering and wandering in and out of the stores, soaking up the atmosphere and generally getting distracted by everything. And then there's the food, not just in this area, but all over the city. LA really does do restaurants incredibly well. From Cecconi's for an old-school glamour, to Gracias Madre for fabulous Mexican food on Melrose, and Great White for something much more relaxed.
Supper With A Side Of Inspo
We walked late one afternoon, sunset hour, from Abbot Kinney to Santa Monica, which was such a lovely way to see more of the neighborhood before heading to the rooftop of Kelly Wearstler's Proper Hotel for supper. And wow, what a place. The interiors outside were beautiful, the atmosphere was fabulous, it was warm, the food was incredible. Exactly the sort of space that makes you want to linger longer for many hours.
Oh and I'm also super obsessed with Waymo, the driverless robot taxi, no small talk necessary!

TIME TO GO
❝I came away feeling so inspired. The architecture, the design, the stores, the food, the sunshine. LA has this wonderful mix of creativity and effortless cool that I absolutely adore, as it so resonates. And who knows, perhaps next time I'll be back looking for a store.❞
