Hi everyone, today I’d like to introduce you to Michelle and her amazing first home transformations. The excitement of having your very first place to decorate and make truly yours is one of the best feelings ever, and Michelle’s jumped straight in with personalising her New Zealand pad. Best of all in my humble opinion, she’s plunged into a love of colour, and is in the process of taking her whole house to the dark side. Another convert, yay! I’ll hand you over to the wonderful Michelle and her home now, but just to say that if you like this you can snoop more of her pad at{Michelle Matangi}.
“We have done all of the renovating ourselves on a very tight budget so I’ve had to be very savvy and find ways to make my house look amazing with very little money, lots of trips to thrift stores and cans of spray paint!
In the middle of renovating I bought Abigail’s book COLOUR and it was the best investment. I know I sound like a suck up but truly it gave me the confidence to be ballsy and just do what I love. So many of my customers and friends comment on how amazing our house feels and that I should be a interior decorator! It’s a great joy of mine to create such beautiful spaces within my home. Thank you for featuring my humble abode and enjoy!”
Welcome to my pad. It’s a 1930’s weatherboard bungalow. I run a clothing alteration business from home, and live with my husband and small black Griffon dog called Pepper. This is our first home. We bought it two years ago, and lived in it for a year until we started renovating, which I highly recommend as you can plan how you want to live. At the moment though we are very much in renovation mode!
We live in a small town called New Plymouth on the west coast of New Zealand. It’s a very beautiful place to live, a five minute walk from the ocean and when the swell is big I fall asleep to the sound of waves, it’s bliss!
My style in 5 words… regal, glamour, retro, rustic and (just a touch) cowboy. Such a mash up!
