“Decorating your home whether you're buying or renting can be a daunting task.

Longevity.

I have pieces in my home that I’ve had for 20 years and hopefully will have for the next 20 years and beyond that. Pieces that have longevity, that stand the test of time no matter the trend and no matter which side of the world I might be living on.

Your home should be unique to you, somewhere that supports all of your physical and emotional needs, enabling you to switch off from the world outside as soon as you step inside the door.

Lighting.

Lighting is the single most important investment you can make, and its got nothing to do with spending zillions on a statement worthy chandelier, as lovely as that might be. I’m talking table lamps, pendants, sconces and it matters not if you live in a rental, if it's your first home or your forever home – accent lighting makes the hugest difference and you can take it anywhere.

Lovely Linens.

We spend a large proportion of our time in bed so why not make it a sumptuous experience. High quality cotton and linen will stand the test of time compared to cheaper alternatives. My collaboration with the Secret Linen Store showcases beautiful quality bedding in the inkiest hues that will envelop you and make your bed feel like a dreamy escape.

Rugs you can

Rely On.

Invest in not only the right size, pattern and texture but also take your time to find the right rug. A rug can make the hugest difference to your room and will add a sumptuousness that you just can't get from any other textile. Pure wool, handmade varieties will give a feeling underfoot that a synthetic material just cannot rival and will last for years and years.

Beautiful Botanicals.

Faux botanicals have come such a long way from the crisp plastic versions from the 70s and 80s in gaudy colours. Our collections are inspired by garden flowers and rustic hedgerows and trace the arc of the seasons. Blousy blooms sit beautifully with seed pods and foliage in an abundant arrangement or look just as beautiful as a single stem in a bottle vase. Change them up for each season, they'll last for years, easily outweighing the cost of fresh blooms, and if you're not green fingered, add in some faux plants too. Love them and leave them, they'll still add a perfect pop of greenery without any of the fuss.

Feeling creative?

Build an everlasting floral arrangement using a textural mix of faux flowers, dried botanicals and long grasses or discover our faux botanical bouquets and gathered stems for a pre-made seasonal look.

My key piece of advice when decorating any aspect of your home is NOT to follow trends or take any notice of what's hot and what's not!

"Anything super textural rocks my world! Plop them everywhere and anywhere, the localised light from table lamps creates the most beautiful glow."

One of Abi's top tips: Layer multiple rugs in a contrasting or complimentary colour palette to make a statement in your home.
